This historic home, where the conductor Arturo Toscanini stayed in the 1930’s, and its former olive mill are located in the rural village of Piazze, outside the Medieval town, Cetona. Totally renovated in 2007, the inn is a short drive from the Chiusi train station, near the A1 motorway and a 1.5 hour drive from Rome and Florence. In addition to this, it is only 5 minutes away from the thermal spa in San Casciano dei Bagni, featured on the cover of Travel and Leisure as “the most beautiful spa in the world”. Arrange an in-house massage or relax in the Salone (living room), furnished with family paintings, books and board games. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine with a taste of local cheese in front of the fire place during Happy Hour on the weekends. The Locanda has one Suite and 8 different types of tastefully-decorated rooms: Classic (smaller); or Superior (larger), all uniquely furnished with antiques and original fresco-painted walls. One room, with twin beds on the ground floor, is equipped for disabled guests. The beds in all rooms have Frette quality sheets and custom-made bedspreads, with down comforters for the winter. On the 3rd floor, the Toscanini Suite (the maestro's very own bedroom) has a small living area with a balcony overlooking lovely hills spotted with cypress trees and vineyards. There is a working fireplace and a sofa-bed in the living area. 2 rooms on the third floor can be connected for families, and a baby cot can be added.
