This unique hotel, situated in the historic centre of Ortigia, just a few paces from Piazza Duomo, is a superb starting-point for a walk around the breathtaking Island. The Palazzo Del Sale, meaning ‘house of salt’, is so-called because it used to be inhabited by the salt-seller Bartolo who provided the Island with paraffin for their lamps and open bags of salt. The high ceilings and walls of stone which are embedded with inserted details in a unique and pleasant style, give an original feel to the place. After re-charging your energy in the large, tastefully-decorated hotel living-room, why not circle "Palazzo del Sale", where you can find all the most interesting sights, including; The Fountain of Aretusa, Castle Maniace, the awe-inspiring Piazza Duomo and all the most important churches of the city?
