Situated in the 15th-century Casalnuovo district, this residence is directly on the main access road to the Sassi: the areas of characteristic houses carved out of the rock that are unique to Matera. The result of a careful restoration of two 19th-century 'lamioni' (examples of the peculiar local architecture), this hotel now offers 7 apartments, 2 with independent access. With the original walls and circular vaults are still visible in places, making this is a truly unique place to stay. Near the hotel you will find some interesting churches cut into the rock, such as the Convicinio di Sant'Antonio, Santa Barbara, and Madonna de' Idris, all with Byzantine-style frescoes. Some rooms include a kitchenette (available on request, for an additional cost).
